Global fleet digitisation research has found that 91% of fleet managers expect investment in digital fleet technologies to increase over the next five years. It also found that 52% cite improved efficiency and reduced operating costs as a key reason for investment, while 49% point to better driver and vehicle safety.
The systems are not the problem
Most fleet platforms are introduced for sensible reasons. Cameras improve visibility over incidents and driving behaviour. Telematics systems help teams understand movement and utilisation. Maintenance platforms support servicing and defects. Compliance tools structure audit requirements. Fuel and sustainability systems monitor cost, emissions and waste.
The issue begins when every operational area becomes its own screen, report or workflow. A warning may be visible in one place, but the service history sits somewhere else. Footage may exist, but not alongside driver behaviour, claim context or previous incidents. Compliance evidence may be available, but only after somebody has spent time looking for it.
Disconnected systems slow down work, making it more manual and more dependent on individuals knowing where everything lives. A fault trend missed early can become downtime. A safety event not linked to coaching can become repeated behaviour.
More dashboards will not solve it
A common response to fragmented information is to add another dashboard. But while that may help with visibility, it rarely deals with the deeper issue. A dashboard can show more data without explaining what has changed, what matters most or what needs attention first. Simply put, fleet teams need a better way to connect what they already have.
